The last in the series, this class will be especially valuable for students who have taken the other courses or have experience in design. With the works of Malevich and Escher as a foundation, we will study the attributes of shape in positive and negative space, organic and geometric differences, metamorphosis, and symbolism. Syntax, space, ABA form and grids are the typographic components of this course. Topics include the components of:
- Shape and space
- Symbolism, including alteration, spontaneity, abstraction, and nonfigurative images
- Type alignment, including syntax, visual hierarchy, and ABA form
